1 Thessalonians 5 verse 11
Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.
Our Motto | Equipping people for ministry impacting communities for Christ
IMPORTANCE OF CARE GROUPS
Care Groups fulfill a role that attendance of a church service cannot. Unlike the impersonal large gathering in a Sunday Service, Care Groups are smaller, closely knit home based caring and sharing communities where all members know each other personally at a deeper level.
PRIMARY OBJECTIVES
At Blantyre Baptist Church, Care Groups have three main primary objectives. These are: (1) evangelism and nurture (2) fellowship and pastoral care and (3) leadership development.
These objectives are achieved through the following activities:
Study of God's Word - Care Groups give the opportunity for interactive learning and studying of God’s Word that pulpit ministry or preaching cannot. In a Care Group setting, members get the opportunity to dig deeper and interrogate passages of scripture that they do not understand.
Prayer - Care Groups afford members opportunity for ministry to one another through praying for one another.
True bonding of relationships - Care Groups help you to know other believers in a way that a Sunday Service is limited in offering. Other believers get to have the privilege of knowing you in a way that is otherwise impossible in a Sunday Service. In other words, Care Groups offer deeper and meaningful fellowship that can serve to encourage one another.
Sharing and Caring - Care Groups are primary pastoral caregivers of the church. They present excellent opportunities for every person to fulfill his or her role as a minister (priesthood of all believers). Members are enabled to minister, counsel, visit, evangelize and exercise leadership. In Care Groups, support and community life is real and valued.
Real experience of a sense of belonging - unlike the large impersonal gatherings in a church setting, Care Groups give members a real sense of belonging.
Accountability - Care Groups provide an atmosphere where members hold each other accountable.
Evangelism - Care Groups afford opportunity for members to invite family members and friends who do not know God to a religious setting that is less intimidating than a church.
